Inel Date

Inel Date is a contemporary landscape painter with a studio in Central West NSW.  Her move to full time studio practice in recent years has allowed the expansion of her practice & her work is now sold & collected widely. She is a lover of light, shadows, skies, big vistas and has a deep connection to “wherever she lands”.  She documents the landscapes she interacts with that act as a springboard for studio-based explorations that reflect her love of the creative process. Her practice is diverse and swings from quiet meditative works to high-energy large-scale serendipitous works.  She doesn’t seek pure representation but rather the balance of colours, line and composition to give the image more dynamism, rhythm and energy. Her current body of work is documenting the rivers and wetlands of NSW, her Layers and Light series as well as spinoffs such as her Seasonal Paddock series.

She has been selected as a finalist in the Calleen Art Prize (2019/2020/2022), Lethbridge 20000 small scale art award (2022/2023), Gosford Art Prize (2022/2024), Kangaroo Valley Prize (2022), Hornsby Art Prize (2022), Fishers Ghost (2023), Milburn Landscape Prize (2023), Pro Hart Outback Art Prize (2024) amongst others. She has a deep connection to “wherever she lands”. Ultimately, she is chasing “sense of place”.
