Rooted in childhood memories of learning fine
needlework alongside her mother and grandmothers, Jane’s practice is both meditative and meticulous. Each piece is crafted with hundreds of individually hand-stitched banksia stamens, carefully dried, dissected, and arranged to highlight their natural elegance. This slow, intentional process captures the soothing and restorative qualities of working with
thread and organic forms.
Although these materials are inherently ephemeral, Jane ensures their longevity by using museum archival techniques, archival-quality cotton paper and natural cotton and linen threads, preserving each intricate design within a sealed frame.
